The TOEFL ITP® tests are available in paper or digital format. The tests use academic and social content to evaluate the English-language proficiency of non-native English speakers, giving you confidence about your ability in a real-world academic setting. The tests use academic content to evaluate non-native speakers’ English skills in:

All questions are multiple choice, and the tests evaluate skills in 3 areas: 

  • Listening Comprehension measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities.
  • Structure and Written Expression measures recognition of selected structural and grammatical points in standard written English.
  • Reading Comprehension measures the ability to read and understand academic reading material written in English.

The TOEFL ITP® Tests at a Glance

Level 1 (intermediate to advanced): Approximately 2 hours

The tests measure English proficiency at high-beginning to advanced levels and it is an affordable and reliable assessment of English-language skills.

How use TOEFL ITP scores:

  1. Placement in intensive English-language programs requiring academic English proficiency at a college or graduate level.
  2. Progress monitoring in English-language programs stressing academic English proficiency.
  3. Exiting English-language programs by demonstrating proficiency in English listening and reading.
  4. Skill building and preparation.
  5. Admissions to short-term, non-degree programs and collaborative international degree programs.
  6. Scholarship programs, as contributing documentation for academic English proficiency.

The Online ElTiS test is a standardized test designed to measure listening and reading skills of high school age English language learners.  ElTiS test is intended to evaluate students’ ability to manage English language requirements of secondary school classes where English is the language of instruction. 

  • Multiple choice of questions
  • Focus on understanding main ideas and details, and on interpreting the information that students hear or read 
  • Focus on language used at school: instructional language, school manage language and social language

iTEP Academic

University Admissions Test

Online and on-demand English language evaluation for colleges and universities. Graded in 24 hours and backed by a team of ESL professionals, iTEP Academic has everything post secondary institutions need to make informed admissions and assessment decisions. 

Structure of iTEP academic

iTEP Academic comes in two forms. The most well-known version being iTEP Academic-Plus which tests grammar, listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Additionally, we offer iTEP Academic-Core which tests grammar, listening and reading. Institutions should use iTEP Academic-Plus for official admissions purposes. For internal assessments, on the other hand, either test is suitable.

How are iTEP English tests administered?

iTEP Academic-Plus for admissions must be administered online, at a certified iTEP Test Center. Academic Core can be administered online at private institutions — a paper format is also available.

How long does an iTEP Academic test last?

The Academic-Core takes 60 minutes, while the Academic-Plus takes 90 minutes. This includes a 10 minute preparation period.
